Embracing the Entire Creative Community
Established
in 1955, the MADC is Australia’s oldest advertising club. Today our
membership is well over 500 and embraces the entire creative community.
The MADC also hosts Australia’s largest creative award night with up to
1,000 people attending.
Our mission
To
raise the creative standards of Advertising and Design in Victoria, by
encouraging the exchange of views and information on practice, conduct
and other professional matters.
We have an open door policy to anybody with an open mind.
What does the MADC stand for?
The
Melbourne Advertising & Design Club is a professional association
of Melbourne's creative people in advertising and design.
The name therefore really only tells you a part of what we are. But
there is no debate about our aims. Like any similar association,
nothing is more important to us than the professional standards of our
industry. So our primary aim is to raise the creative standards by
whatever means available to us. The most obvious way is to garner
support from like-minded individuals within our own ranks.
At
April 2002, our membership numbered over 500. A brief look at the
members list will tell you it includes the who's who of Melbourne's
creative community.
The membership of the
Club is further strengthened by its commitment to a scrupulous Award
scheme that observes the standards that have been achieved over the
previous 12 months. An Annual is produced to coincide with the ceremony
night, which represents a snapshot of the best, most creative
advertising and design the city has produced.
Of
course, it's not only through such rigorous judging that we raise
standards but also through inspiration, something the club fosters by
bringing eminent Australian and international speakers to Melbourne to
exchange their ideas, techniques and experiences. With these aims in
mind, we encourage a sense of community amongst our members with formal
and informal events throughout the year.
And
lastly - but probably foremost in its achievements - is the MADC Mentor
scheme which brings the students of advertising and design into contact
with its leading exponents.
Organisations Credentials
The
Melbourne Advertising & Design Club (MADC) is one of Australia's
oldest advertising creative organisations having been established in
Victoria since 1955.
Today the club has around 500 members composed primarily of advertising and design professionals and associated organisations.
The
Club is responsible for organising and holding Australia's largest
annual Advertising Award Show each May. Up to 1000 guests attend the
MADC Award Night each year and the Club produces a 100 page Award
Annual to record and celebrates the best creative work for that year.
The
Club also has a commitment to encouraging new blood into the industry
and each year runs a Mentor scheme for advertising and graphic design
students from the key universities around Melbourne.
Professional
advancement and education takes the form of organised seminars and
keynote speakers both locally and from overseas to speak to the
membership.
The MADC also produces a
quarterly newsletter as a forum for information and discussion about
the major events and issues of interest to the membership.
All of the activities of the MADC are specifically designed to fulfil the objectives of the Club's charter and mission. |
